Now, if you’re like me, you are thinking “What the heck are Goals and Funnels and why would I want to add more confusion to what I already have?” Well it just depends on the level of tracking that you wish to perform and what your website is set up for.

If your site is set up strictly for content and you’re only interested in knowing about your visitors, where they come from, what pages they visit and how long they stick around, then you’ve probably set up as much as you need to.

But if your site is set up to guide visitors through a ‘process’ or a series of pages (this would be your ‘funnel’) to ultimately end up at a ‘goal’ page such as an optin or a download page, you may want to track exactly how that visitor travels through that funnel to see exactly how many make it all the way to the goal page.

And, for those that don’t make it all the way to conversion, this gives you an avenue to find out exactly where they are dropping out or losing interest. With this information you would know exactly where something might need to be fixed or split tested for better results.

A good example of this would be if your site was set up where a visitor first comes in by whatever means to an opt-in page, signs up for an incentive, gets presented with a One-Time-Offer, accepts or declines, goes on to a thank you page and eventually a download of the incentive.

Once you have your account created, it is a good idea to take some time to personalize it before you start creating pages. I am going to use the example of Squidoo here, even though many other parasite websites offer similar features:

Take advantage of the bio section. Share a bit about yourself. If you are using a “ghost name”, feel free to elaborate more about the background of this person. People tend to feel more comfortable once they learn more about a person. I would strongly suggest tailoring the bio section to reflect whatever type of website you are planning to promote. For example, if you are promoting a dog training site, be sure to include lots of tidbits about how you love dogs.

Include a picture. This is a must! People will definitely respond better to you if there is a friendly picture of you in the corner.

Add links to your website wherever it is appropriate. There are often spots in your account section where you can list favorite websites, “cool” places, etc.

Anything else you can do to make your spot more friendly. This can include changing the background colors on your page, adding additional pictures, etc. Going the extra length can really help to separate your page from the others.

It is very important to have an effective navigation system setup on your blog. Typically most of your inbound links will be pointed towards the root of your blog.

This means that it will be crucial to make sure that you have a way for both the search engine spiders as well as your human visitors to find what they are looking for on your blog.

I would suggest that you take some time and think about the most important posts on your blog. Perhaps you could create a spot on your home page that links to these. You may also want to have a spot devoted just to newer posts.

Prioritizing the most important pages will help you send them the most “link juice” that flows in to your blog’s root.

This course will provide you with two different ways for you to create your own videos:

Free Method: This involves using two programs that you should already have on your computer, Windows Paint and Windows Movie Maker. This isn’t the fastest way, but it’s free!

Paid Method: This is how I personally make my videos (I suspect that most people do it this way). It involves using Microsoft Powerpoint and a video screen capture tool called Camtasia.

I wanted to give people the option of being able to make their own videos for free, while still showing what I feel to be the most optimal way to make quality videos fast. If you are just starting out, I would suggest trying the free method. Once you start to see the benefits of video marketing, you may want to “graduate” to the paid method.

To automatically deliver your emails to your readers you will use an autoresponder. The best on the market is Aweber. There are others, though we’d be more wary of them. Whatever you do DO NOT use a free autoresponder. They usually contain adverts and have very poor delivery rates, which will mess your business up. Plus, when you move to a paid autoresponder, you will have to get all your hard earned leads to re-confirm their subscription, which will cost you dearly in subscribers.

The other option for those on a tighter budget (and who don’t want to be tied to a monthly fee) is to purchase an autoresponder script that you can install on your own domain.

Once you have your autoresponder account you are going to set up your messages. You are not going to be sending out the e-course to your readers, but a short teaser email designed to get them to click through to your website. Once there they will read your ecourse and either click on the affiliate link or on some of the Adsense ads on your site.

You also need to set up a web page to say thank you for subscribing, check your email for the confirmation link (as you will be using double opt in to protect yourself from spam complaints). Use the confirmation page to remind them to check their email and click on the confirmation link and to tell them a bit more about your e-course.

You also need to set up a page for after they have clicked the confirmation link in their email. This is a simple “thank you for subscribing”, a brief overview of the e-course and some Adsense ad blocks on the top and bottom. With nowhere to go except the Adsense links you are likely to get some revenue from the clicks.

Now get the html code for the subscription box from your autoresponder and put it into the right place on your squeeze page.
