Do you remember that old commercial (I can’t remember what company it was for) that showed two old women buying hamburgers and one of them asked, “Where’s the beef?” The meat that was in the hamburger was so small that it was almost invisible and the meat is what makes a hamburger a hamburger.

A list is what makes an internet business an internet business. It is the ‘meat’ of a business. If it is so small that it is the next thing to invisible you just aren’t going to have an internet business. It really is that simple. You have got to have a list!

There are many ways to build a list...buying a list isn’t one of them so don’t be fooled. You have to work hard at building your list and list building is a task that is never completed.

The biggest internet marketers in the business are still concerned with list building. They always will be and you always should be as well.

The fact it that making a first-time sale to a new customer costs you five times as much as making a repeat sale to a member of your opt-in list.

It is just basically simple math. The cost of a sale is subtracted from profit. The less it costs you to make a sale, the bigger your profit on the sale will be.

There are many, many accepted and proven methods of list-building techniques. There is article writing and marketing and E-Book writing and marketing.

There is advertising (both paid and free). There is posting to blogs using a sig tag that includes a link to your website.

There is starting your own blog on your own website. The list goes on and on and you should strive to use all of the methods available to you to build your own very impressively long opt-in list because that is where the ‘beef’ is!

Have you ever noticed how some words become ‘buzz’ words? Some of these words are good and some of them just raise red flags. The ‘Blast’ word is one that raises major red flags.

The dictionary defines the word ‘blast’ as: “a sudden and violent gust of wind” or “the blowing of a trumpet, whistle, etc.” or “a loud, sudden sound or noise” or "a forcible stream of air from the mouth, bellows, or the like.” None of those definitions are very appealing or positive, are they?

A slang use of the term ‘blast’ is: “having a very enjoyable time (i.e. “We had a blast!”) Sometimes the word “blast” means “a vigorous outburst of criticism; attack.”

No matter how the word ‘blast’ is used it really isn’t a very positive word and when it is used by companies engaged in internet advertising it often denotes a less than desirable company to do business with because the techniques that they are advocating might just blow up in your face.

There are many companies on the internet that use the word ‘blast’ in the advertisements for their services. You can find advertisements that advocate "Massive Ad Blast” or “Blast Podcasts” or “Fax Blast” or “Email Blast Advertising” and a host of others.

There are also companies that use the word ‘blast’ in their company names. It is simply the best overall policy to avoid all advertising businesses that use the term ‘blast’ although there may be some that are legitimate.

In the English language descriptive words are used freely and often. They are used to tell you what a ‘thing’ is and each one of those descriptive words cause responses in those who hear them or see them. The word, ‘blast’ is one that should be avoided.

The REAL Truth about FFAs and Safe Lists

You have likely heard of FFA’s and Safe Lists. If you haven’t "FFA” is NOT an acronym for ‘Future Farmers of America’ in this case. It is an acronym for “Free For All” links and this kind of free-for-all isn’t as much fun as it sounds like it is and a “Safe List” is only a safe bet that you are going to get an awful lot of mail in your inbox.

In the beginning an FFA or a Safe List was a method by which webmasters helped one another to advertise their goods and services for free by providing space for others to place advertisements on their own websites. It seemed like a good idea at the time and for awhile it was but that is just no longer the case.

FFA’s and Safe Lists are usually divided by category. For example you will see divisions like ‘computers, business, pets, swimming pools, etc.’ The idea was that a website owner could place an advertisement on an FFA or Safe List and when surfers came across that advertisement, they could just click on it and sales would increase for free.

Then two things happened that rendered FFA’s and Safe Lists useless.

The first was automated software that could be purchased very inexpensively that would place advertisements on every FFA and Safe List on the net without a website owner even needing to visit the site to place the ad. This defeated the purpose for even providing FFA or Safe List space on a website.

The second thing that happened was the CAN SPAM act that became law in 2002. Now website owners needed members for their opt-in lists and the FFA and Safe List pages became nothing more than collectors of information for the website owner.

Basically, the only thing that you will get out of an FFA or Safe List is a lot of unwanted mail.

One way in which you can generate revenue is to endorse products to your e-zine subscribers. This might sound sleazy and ineffective, but it can actually work quite well, provided that you do it occasionally and select the right products and the right times.

The key to making money from endorsing products to your subscribers is to look for major launches that already have serious momentum. For instance, two large Internet marketing launches were John Reese's Traffic Secrets and Mike Filsaime's Butterfly Marketing. Both of these generated more than a million dollars in a short amount of time.

If you mention the next big launch to your subscribers, there's a chance they will have already heard of it – and have already considered it. If you have a good relationship with them, there's a good chance they'd rather buy it from you than a different affiliate or even directly from the product creator.

Making money from endorsing products to your subscribers will become considerably easier when you toss in a load of bonuses. But rather than purchasing one of those cheap bonus packages, instead look for products that offer master resale rights. Purchase those products and resell them to your list with “resell rights” included. If the products are actually good, this will be an excellent bonus.

Massive launches are a good way to begin making money from endorsing products to your subscribers because they are almost always a safe bet. Not only will they earn you a considerably large amount of money per sale, but they will also be a “safe bet” in terms of quality. If a big name business is launching a new product, you can be sure that it will over-deliver, especially if it comes with a big price tag.

However, making money by endorsing products to your subscribers can be done in other ways, too. You can also setup a joint venture endorsement or simply endorse affiliate products that you have already purchased and were satisfied with. Whatever you do, avoid lying or endorsing products that you haven't yet tried. Not only is this unethical, but it might simply be bad business if the product doesn't deliver.

Other Known Methods of Monetizing Your E-zine

What are some other known methods of monetizing your e-zine other than selling advertising space and endorsing products? There are several, all of which will produce varying results depending on the demographics that comprise your industry and list.

One of the other known methods of monetizing your e-zine is using contextual advertisements. Rather than sending out the text of the e-zine in email format, you can send an email with a link to the e-zine issue. You can then include contextual advertisements around the e-zine issue.

This method isn't well known or practiced, but can be quite effective. Additionally, setting up your e-zine like this can also increase the back-end traffic you receive from e-zine subscribers. Rather than attempting to get e-zine readers to move from the email to your site, you can simply direct them there everyday, so they are more comfortable with it.

One of the other known methods of monetizing your e-zine involves using expert interview issues. Each month, you can interview some expert in your field, be it a business owner, professional, or instructor – and ask him/her to give some tips and talk about his/her best products. At the end of the interview, you can then include an affiliate link to that person's site.

Another way in which you can monetize your e-zine is by including lists of recommended resources for every issue. For instance, you could outline some specific technique, such as creating an auto responder series; and, at the end, you could include all of the tools and resources they should consider purchasing if they decide take this route.

Perfect Golf Swing MRR Ebook

When facing a shot into the wind, if you utilize a straight faced iron in the same manner just described, back off the right foot, you will be able to produce a shot that is long and powerful. This technique is often referred to as a push shot and new golfers are frequently apprehensive about attempting it. If you find yourself topping the ball or unable to pick it up on the fairway lies; however, simply moving the ball back towards your right heel will generally put an end to those problems.

Sandtrap shots

In the event the ball is not buried in the sand and it is not necessary to lift the ball sharply, the method just described can be quite reliable. When you play the ball back opposite the right foot, you can make clean contact with the ball and cause it to actually be on its way before the club even encounters the sand. Try it and you will find there is no other reliable and consistent way to get out of a sandtrap.

If; however, you find it necessary to raise the ball quickly, then you will need to play the ball opposite the left heel with the club in an open position rather than opposite the right heel in a closed position. Take care to keep the club in the open position throughout the swing.

This technique will provide you with the ability to move the ball out of the sand and land it on the green with very little difficulty at all.

Chip shots

It becomes quite essential to play the ball back opposite the right hell on the short shots that exist just off the edge of the green. This technique will insure you are able to get beneath the ball properly and avoid contacting the ball with the edge of the club; thereby skating it across the green in a haphazard manner.

For better chip shots; however, it is important to understand one key factor.

It is the body action which provides the power while the hands are free to control the direction or halt the effect from an open face club position. Once again, the importance of how the club is set for the shot is established.

When playing a chip shot, the player may use a lofted club, such as a #9 iron, in order to automatically place a halt on the ball. One may also use a #4 or even a #3 iron to put a roll on the ball in a likewise manner. That said; however, there is definitely a degree of added control that can be achieved with all of these shots if the player has practiced the action of playing the club open when it is necessary to achieve a sharp stop on a chip shot. Likewise, if the goal is to achieve a roll or run shot, you can more easily accomplish this with the ability to set the club into a closed position as you play the shot.

Of course, practically speaking, the best way to play a chip shot is to always play them with a closed face position of the club. By using a club that will drop the ball onto the smooth putting surface, you can then have it roll or run on up to the cup.

Playing the ball off the right foot instead of opposite the left heel can help to facilitate this pitch and run effect.

Hello and welcome to the promotion tips section. What I'd like to do with you in this section is talk through some of the biggest mistakes that I see and hear about every day. Not just mistakes that are costing people a couple of dollars here and there, because quite frankly that would be wasting your time.

Instead I've grabbed six of the biggest performance improvers that I can think of. When I found out about each one of these, I saw a significant increase in my income, a big drop in losses and much improved results, and as far as I’m concerned, they should do the same for any marketer that pays attention to these tips.

So let's begin with something a little unorthodox, and that's affiliate promotion. If you've read any of my previous books, you'd likely remember hearing me talk about how much power owning your own product gives you compared to straight up affiliate promotion.

Even if it means just releasing products to build your resources, your list, your customers and contacts that you can use for affiliate promotion, let it be known that in my opinion this is still the case. If you don't have your own products start today.

Saying that however, I’ve started to notice through many marketers teaching the same thing, people like yourself are starting to grasp this concept very well. They're listening and getting the job done, which is why in a complete reversal of my previous work, for the first time, I'm actually going to begin by talking about affiliate promotion and how to get the best out of it.

There are far more advantages to this than making money.

Good, ok now we've got the introduction done, let's look at one the fundamentals that never fails to earn me far more than my fellow affiliates. It’s not about the amount of resources I have compared to theirs, in fact, it’s the way I always present my affiliate promotion. My list has begun to get used to the fact that I always without fail, offer them something extra when promoting an affiliate program.

This used to be something I was totally against, because I thought it was a waste of time. After all, how likely is it that the people on your list are going to see the same promotion from another person, but decide to buy from you because you're offering them a free e-book, or a free audio or a little something extra.

Chris - Ok Joint Ventures - they're definitely a very profitable thing. You don't need to be a big guru or have a big e-mail list to get joint ventures. I have a couple of articles on my website about this, and basically what you want to do is spend a couple of hours in a day going through the top twenty sites. Type up your key phrase in 3 different search engines, go through those top 20 sites on each of the three search engines and find the name and the e-mail address of the site owner.

Take an e-mail template, insert their website and their name, personalize up the e-mail and send it to them, asking for a joint venture or a link exchange, or have them put your article on their website if they like it. You don't have to know the big guns to do it - in fact I just found the JV article and this gives you a six day plan on how to get JV partners in 30 minutes a day for 6 days.

Take 6 days and 30 minutes per day and you'll have JV partners. There's even an e-mail template in here that I've wrote and I've used successfully that you can just copy, paste and just personalize for setting out joint venture requests.

This works phenomenally well. You don't need to know a big guru; you don't even need to have big money to do this. It's great.

Rob - Excellent. Any other comments on joint ventures? Perhaps if you are a bigger person and if you are running a program, what are the sorts of things you can do to perhaps engage people to participate in finding people to come on board with your project and start working together?

Chris - A big one that works very well is prizes, contests, cash prizes work well, electronic prizes such as laptops, iPods, things like that. If you can set up a contest for thirty days, whoever generates the most sales in 30 days gets a 2500 dollar bonus or gets a free iPod, or gets this laptop, and have pictures of it.

That can really increase someone’s desire to do a joint venture with you.

Contests have definitely been the big booster that I've seen. They've been going on for a long time. Once a month I've always seen someone doing one, and they've always worked out well. Definitely try and do a contest, if you're a medium to large sized marketer and you want to get more people involved in promoting your product.

Rob - Ok that's interesting. We're very much going down that route here at co-op world with our treasure hunts where people can win prizes by clicking on ads and doing other things, but maybe we ought to take that a step further and get more prizes as rewards, get a few more contests going, not just with finding things, but perhaps with achieving certain goals.

All right, so there's some of the questions that I wanted to cover. I was quite keen to have this session be just under the one-hour mark. I will kick into a second one where we start to open up to the floor to ask questions, and if we've got time we may even move into the work shopping where maybe if you've got a business that you're promoting, and you want to get some advice from Chris on it. So Chris, do you have any other sort of closing comments on anything before we open up the interview for a Q&A?

Chris - Before we open up for questions, I just want to say that the biggest thing is that people need to get started. People read 100 articles online, buy 20 ebooks and read those, they get so confused that they don't know where to start and they never do start.

The number one thing is to put a website up. Put up a website, even if it's a crappy trashy looking site, put one up and modify it from there. Start now. You can buy a domain and get a free website template up, do it and build from there. It's a never-ending process. You're always refining, you're always tweaking, but the key is to actually get to doing something. Take ACTION!

There is plenty of demand these days for professional coaches and motivational speaker. All across the country, people whose entire purpose is to inspire, instruct, and help people identify where they want to go in life are raking in very nice fees.

Motivational instructors and mentors are making their money with in person classes, but they are also doing very well with audio and visual sessions as well. Generally speaking, a class will be promoted and persons will be invited to register and pay a flat fee to attend.

Generally speaking, that fee will depend on the number of sessions that will be included in the series. Upon registration, the attendee will receive instructions on how to access the sessions via phone and/or the Internet.

The session will often allow for some degree of interaction, with the frequency and mode of interaction controlled by the mentor.

How does this relate back to your product line? Chances are you had to identify some specific applications for your offerings before you ever got your first sale. Some of your mentoring can be to help people understand how your other products save them time and money and in some cases help them to make more money and expand their business.

In a related note, if you have a number of customers who work in companies where dealing with customers is a daily thing, you can most certainly fill a void.

Among the mentoring sessions you could offer are such topics as how to defuse an angry customer, how to get a customer to tell you what is really bothering them and how to bring a former customer back into the fold.

You can draw on your own expertise as well as your experiences and come up with some motivational style mentoring classes that will be sure to be of interest to your customers.

Tele-Seminars

Like mentoring sessions, tele-seminars are something that more and more people are comfortable with. They save time, definitely cut back on travel expenses, and allow attendees to get back to work more quickly, which helps to keep productivity high around the office.

When it comes to tele-seminars, you can offer subject matter you create and host in house, or you can become a means of providing a special guest speaker for a tele-seminar. Perhaps you can snag a best selling author who has written an exciting new book on Internet marketing.

Arrange for a one time tele-seminar where the author discusses his book and entertains questions afterward. The audience will pay a flat fee to attend and have the ability to participate in the question and answer session. For additional revenue, you can make the proper arrangements to record the tele-seminar and make copies of it available after the fact.

Exclusive Membership Sites

Everyone likes to feel special. One of the easiest ways is to create and manage an exclusive membership site. You can put together something that is specifically for a select group of persons, such as CEO’s, chief financial officers, executive directors of non-profit organizations, or any niche market that is composed of people who could benefit from networking with their peers and can afford to pay a nice figure for that privilege on a monthly or annual basis.

Include in the membership discounts on items of interest such as trade magazines geared toward that market or savings on attended tele-seminars and mentoring sessions that are relevant to this exclusive group. By providing networking opportunities as well as the discounts, you can find yourself with a nice way to move high ticket offerings with no trouble at all.

1.1 Why Add Google to Your Internet Business

Bottom-Line?

You’ve heard of Google. Anyone who hasn’t heard of Google has been living under a rock for several years now. But did you know that Google can help you do more than just find information? Google can help you increase the bottom line of your business.

There are two ways that Google helps business owners increase their bottom line – with Google AdWords, and Google AdSense. There are two separate advertising programs that actually work together, even if you are only participating in one of the programs. Both programs are free to join.

Google AdWords is an advertising Pay-Per-Click program. You set up a free account, write your add, choose your keywords, set your budget, and activate the campaign. Google then displays your ad in their search engine results, when your keywords are used in a search, as well as on content websites that are related to your keywords.

Each time someone clicks on your ad, you are charged whatever you have agreed to pay for each click, or less in some cases. Google charges your credit card for the clicks that you have received on a regular basis.

This is one of the most effective ways to get traffic to your website, and to build up an opt-in list – if you are using a capture page – in existence.

On the other side of the G-Factor is Google AdSense. Google AdSense doesn’t cost money – it pays money to content website owners who place the Google AdSense code on their websites, each time one of their visitors clicks on one of the ads that are displayed.

With Google AdSense, you can select the type of ads that you wish to run, as well as the look and feel of the ads. When you place the code on your web page, Google serves ads that are relevant to the content on that page, so that the ads are highly targeted.

The ads that are being served to AdSense sites are the ads that AdWords customers are running through the AdWords program, and this is how the two programs work together.

So as you can see, you can either join forces with Google AdSense to earn extra revenue for your bottom line and/or use Google AdWords to get more traffic to your site, which you can then convert to more sales.

1.2 How to Use Google to Boost Your Internet

Business

Google makes it easy for business owners to boost business on the Internet in three ways: Google AdSense, Google AdWords, and by using the Google Search Engine in general. Take a look at what each Google program can do for your business.

Google AdSense is an advertising program, which allows website owners to sign up for a Google AdSense account – free of charge – and then to place ad code on their webpages. The website owners profit when people visit their websites, and click on the Google AdSense ads.

The AdSense ads that are served to your pages are relevant to the content that you have published on your page. While each click doesn’t pay you a lot of money, numerous clicks can. In fact, there are many people who do nothing but publish ‘AdSense sites.’

These sites are designed with content that is meant to attract high paying ads from Google AdSense, by targeting high paying keywords. While some website publishers focus solely on Google AdSense for site revenue, there are others that just add it for an additional revenue stream from their websites.

Google AdWords is an advertising program that website owners pay for. They set up an account, for free, write your ad, select your keywords and budget, and then let the ad run.

The ad appears in the search results when someone searches for those keywords. It also appears on content sites (AdSense Sites) that contain the keywords that you’ve selected.

Again, you pay for each click that you receive, but you will find that by using Google AdWords, your traffic increases dramatically, in a matter of hours, and that of course will result in higher sales.

Finally, by using search engine optimization techniques, you can take advantage of natural search marketing with Google. Google is the most popular search engine among Internet Users, and you definitely want to get a high ranking with them, for the same reasons that you might use Google AdSense.

By optimizing and doing natural search marketing, your website listing will appear higher in the search results – and that doesn’t cost anything more than your time if you do the optimization yourself.

2.0 Raking in Free Traffic from Google

2.1 How the Google Search Engine Works

While we don’t often think about – or care – how Google works, it is very important for anyone who is using AdSense, AdWords, or natural search marketing for their business to understand the basic principles that drive the Google search engine.

There are three main parts to Google: Googlebot, The Indexer, and the Query Processor. Each of these three parts is crucial to online businesses, believe it or not. Let’s take a look at each of these Google elements to see how they work. Googlebot is the search engine spider that comes to your website and ‘spider’s’ your pages. It isn’t an actual spider.

It actually works more like a web browser by calling a server and requesting pages, and downloading them – just as you do when you open your web browser, type in an email address, and the page loads.

Googlebot, however, is run by numerous computers and performs this task much faster than one user could on their home or work computer. Googlebot also doesn’t know that a website exists until a URL is put into their Add URL form, or until they find a link to that website on another web page.

When Googlebot visits a page, they take all the links from that page, and put them in a queue for crawling, and just repeat this process over and over again. Once Googlebot has found a link, and downloaded the page, it hands that page off to the Indexer.

The Indexer stores the pages in Google’s Index Database. The Index then sorts all of the pages in its database, alphabetically, by looking at all of the keywords on the pages. The Index does not pay any attention to what Google calls stop words, such as is, on, or, why, how, etc. It just pays attention to more important keyword type words.

The Indexer, after Indexing pages, waits for the Google Query Processor to ask it for a list of documents. A keyword is given to the Query Processor, which in turn asks the Indexer for a list of websites that contain that keyword.

The Indexer then supplies the Query processor with a list of the documents, and the Query processor presents that to the user that requested the keyword. As you can see, each element is important to the others. It all starts with the Googlebot finding your webpage link on another page, or by you going to Google and using the Add form to list your website.

Community networking is all about promoting your business/product/service in a community setting in online communities like Ryze, Yahoo, Direct Match, My Space, Circle of Friends and other forums that have like minded people and marketers in them. You can do community networking in just about any online group. Your goal, plain and simple, is to talk to people about what you have to offer.

You can find people by doing searches and contacting them based on the information in their profiles. It sometimes takes a bit of work to find people's e mail addresses, but with Googling and cross checking on the Net, the people you would like to talk to can be found. If you know they are already online marketers (or not), and then gage your approach accordingly.

Community networking can accomplish business development, sales, general marketing, recruiting, job-hunting, knowledge exchange, strategic alliances, joint ventures etc. Business development and community networking are closely related.

Community networking is about partnerships. You are striving for a coming together, or meeting of the minds. You want to explore the relationship to see if it can be mutually beneficial, and if the answer is yes, then you work together to make that happen. It is always easier and less threatening to talk about partnering rather than purchasing something.

The relationships you are working on developing are an end, not just a means to an end. However, despite the relationship aspects of your approach to your prospect, your ultimate goal is still a sale of some sort.

The traditional point of view for the sales relationship you have with prospects is that the success of any sales person is measured in sales, not relationships. That's what's wrong with most traditional online marketing approaches. The relationship part is missing. People delete marketing messages from people they don't know, and don't have a relationship with. If on the other hand you do have a relationship chances are they will always open email from you. That is why your focus needs to be on the relationship itself and not just the short-term objective of a sale.

What other things can you be doing to establish a relationship while you are community networking? Research your market, and listen more than you talk. Marketing groups are usually really candid with their opinions about things. This is valuable information for you.

Be viewed as an expert in your field and this will give you more social standing and greater access to your audience. Speak up and out in a forum, blog, mailing list, and reach untold numbers of people. Talk about what you know the best, and if you make it original or thought provoking, you'll be quoted and linked to. That is great exposure! By the way, while you are at it, include your business name/site/blog link in every signature in every email, every Web transaction your do and in every profile you create. Invaluable exposure.

Word-of-mouth spreads like wildfire through social networks. Make use of that fact when community networking and you will soon have the world beating a path to your door to find out what you have to offer.
