Introduction

There’s no doubt that technological advancements, especially the internet, has made the world a better place. Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter have made the world a global village where online social interactions occur. We can now have friends in nations we’ve never been to and may never visit. It also provides endless opportunities for trading and business expansion. Therefore, social media is indeed a blessing for interpersonal and professional relationships.

Nonetheless, this blessing is a curse for many people. Social media isn’t evil; however, its abuse, just like medications, can be disastrous. Many people are battling social media addiction today, such that they are anxious when they don’t have access to their phones. Some people cannot imagine not using their phones for a day.

Meanwhile, social media platforms are full of disturbing content that affects people’s mental health. So, it’s vital that you’ve control over your social media use. What you need is a social media detox.

Unfortunately, many people that would’ve loved to regulate their social media use don’t know how to execute this plan. If you’re one such person, you’re reading the right material. This book is a complete guide that explains social media addiction, its ills, and how to control it. Therefore, you need to pay attention to every page while reading because this book has the potential to be life-changing. You’ll find quality information that’ll enable you to disconnect to reconnect. Are you ready to get your life on track? Here you go!

Chapter 1 - What is Digital Detox?

Activities such as yoga and meditation are gaining more prominence because they help people to attain inner tranquility. More people need them because it’s becoming more challenging to focus in the modern world, thanks to the myriad of devices and fancy toys we possess. It’s difficult to find a teenager in the 21st century without a mobile phone. Access to the internet is increasingly easier and cheaper. Indeed, it has many advantages. Nonetheless, its negative impacts are also numerous.

One of the ills of social media addiction is a lack of focus. Meanwhile, you cannot have maximum performance when you’ve issues with attention. So, it’s critical that you’ve control over your use of social media, and that’s why you need a digital detox. This chapter will explore how social media use can go wrong and how you can reconnect to your true self again.

Stats on Social Media Addiction

Indeed, social media platforms are parts and parcel of the modern world. We all want to be connected to people in other parts of the world through these mediums. However, when you don’t control the time you spend on these platforms, it will affect your productivity.

Social media addiction is a severe issue that’s ruining many people’s potential. Many people are immersed in the digital world such that they struggle to get to grips with the real world. Some people have friends on these platforms but struggle to commit to or maintain quality interpersonal and social interactions.

The stats regarding social media use and abuse are startling, if not terrifying. For example, the Nielsen Company reported that the average US adult spends around eleven hours interacting with media daily! This duration includes reading, listening, and watching videos.

This analysis shows that an average US adult spends almost half a day in the digital world! Meanwhile, many people spend around fourteen to sixteen hours interacting with digital devices, especially during holidays. Instead of using leisure periods for building a robust bond with loved ones, many people spend them in the digital world.

Moreover, this statistic is mindboggling because it reveals that many people only have around twelve hours left to sleep, eat, work, and interact with loved ones. Many people claim that they don’t have time for social activities, hobbies, and regular exercise. Besides, some people also struggle to have sufficient sleep because of their social media activities.

Meanwhile, the Sleep Foundation recommends that you should sleep between seven to nine hours a day. So, such people will not be able to have enough rest for optimum performance in their daily tasks. There’re many reasons you need to consider giving up your phone and devices for a while. For example, you may want to enjoy more personal time without interference.

You may also feel that your device use is becoming excessive and increasing your stress and anxiety level. According to a poll conducted by Common Sense Media, 50% of teenagers admitted that they were addicted to their mobile devices. This report also revealed that 78% of the respondents check their digital devices every hour.

The Dark Side of Social Media

Despite its multiple benefits, there’s a dark side to social media use. Indeed, these platforms aren’t evil, but people can misuse them to hurt others and also hurt themselves. The unpleasant results of social media abuse are as follows:

Insensitive Comments due to Anonymity

Social media platforms allow people to register without using their real names. This anonymity empowers people to say insensitive things that can make others depressed. Many people don’t realize that Twitter followers or Facebook friends have many reasons for associating with them. Some of these people you meet online don’t care about you or how you feel. Many people say things online that they will never dare to say to you in physical interaction.

Body Shaming

If you’re not careful, the media can make you feel horrible about your body shape, especially if you’re fat. It’s becoming increasingly embarrassing to call people “fat” because of the barrage of media abuse associated with the word.

Moreover, plus size people are often the butt of many jokes in movies and social media. So, you may feel bad about yourself and feel rejected. It’s okay to lose weight to look fitter and avoid obesity. However, it’s an issue when you’re losing weight to be accepted by your loved ones. Friends who make you feel worthless because of your physique aren’t worth your time.

Cyberbullying

If you’ve been a victim of cyberbullying, you’ll never be a party to it. It can be devastating to be the target of numerous verbal attacks from different people around the world. It can ruin the individual’s self-esteem and lead to suicidal ideation.

Unfortunately, many people face several backlashes online every day because of one reason or the other. The margin for error is slimmer in the modern world thanks to many destructive critics out there. They prefer to humiliate you rather than help you grow.

Social Comparison

Social comparison is inevitable when you’re exposed to many extravagant people who like to display their wealth on social media. Unfortunately, many celebrities are fond of this ludicrous behavior. They forget that many people aren’t enjoying the same privileged positions. Some of them do it in the guise of motivating others not to give up on their dreams. Nevertheless, these images paint a picture of life being devoid of happiness without luxurious lifestyles to many people. Meanwhile, this perception is a vague assessment of the meaning of life.

Digital Detox to the Rescue

Based on the DSM – 5, mental health experts don’t regard tech and device overuse as a mental disorder. Nonetheless, it’s evident that it’s a behavioral addiction that can pose psychological, social, and physical health problems. So, you need to regulate the rate of your interaction with the digital world. You need a brief period when you refrain from using tech devices such as tablets, computers, television, video games, and social media. This process is called digital detoxification.

Chapter 1

Earning A Comfortable Living From

Adsense Reviewed

Technically, there is only one way to earn money from AdSense. You create a website, and paste the AdSense code into the pages. You then drive traffic to that site, and you earn money when people click on the ads that are being served by Google. That sounds easy enough, right?

It is easy, but it takes more thought and effort than that. What you must remember is that you only earn a few cents when someone clicks an ad, for the most part. That amount can be as little as three cents, and on up to five dollars. The most successful AdSense publishers are targeting keywords that pay the most amount of money.

These AdSense publishers use a variety of tools to find out what the high paying keywords are. These tools include keyword research tools, such as Word Tracker and Keyword Elite.

They spend a great deal of time researching those keywords, finding out what the top keywords are, in terms of number of people searching for them, and what word combinations are being used. These are words and phrases that they will target in the content of their sites.

Next, they determine which of those top keywords topics pay the most money per click. Those who have been in the AdSense game for a while are not going to build sites that target keywords that only pay three cents per click!

They are making a living, and three cents doesn’t go very far in reaching their goal.

These AdSense publishers use the tools that Google provides to help determine which keywords are paying the most to the publishers. Unfortunately, you won’t find these tools inside your Google AdSense account. You need a Google AdWords account for this.

You see, Google has two programs: Google AdSense and Google AdWords. Those two programs work together. Business owners use Google AdWords to promote their products and websites. When you publish Google AdSense ads on your site, the ads that are being displayed are those that people using the Google AdWords program have paid Google to run.

Fortunately, it is free to set up a Google AdWords account. You just set it up, and get in there and start using the tools that are there to see how much bids are for the keywords that you’ve discovered using keyword selection tools such as Word Tracker and Keyword Elite.

By doing this, you have access to the same information that the people who are paying for ads has, and this helps you to build more profitable AdSense websites.
This is a secret that Google won’t tell you about, and few AdSense publishers will share with you. Having a Google AdWords account is the key to finding out which keywords are going to pay you the most amount of money per click.

Choosing the right high paying keywords, however, isn’t all that there is to it. You also must have the traffic. Low traffic sites won’t make you a full-time living. This is why most publishers have more than one website.

They find the top keywords in terms of number of searches, figure out the keywords from that list that pay the most amount of money per click, and then build sites accordingly.

A successful AdSense publisher may have sites on topics such as fishing, weight loss, video games, making money, and more. When you have multiple sites, you can make a nice living with a mid level amount of traffic to each site.

If you have hundreds of sites, which some publishers do, you can make a living even with low traffic. So, here is some food for thought: The more traffic you have per site, the fewer sites you will need to earn a living from AdSense.

Chapter 2

What Is AdSense, Really?

In recent years, there has been a great deal of discussion and information concerning Google’s AdSense program at http://adsense.google.com. There have been numerous E-Books and articles written on the topic.

But in the grand scheme of things, it is a profitable program that still gets overlooked by many who are just coming online to start a business, as well as those who have been around a while.

First, let’s take a look at exactly what AdSense is and what it is all about.

AdSense is a program for webmasters which was implemented by the famous Google some years ago.

Essentially, a webmaster (a person who owns and builds one or more websites) signs up for an account with the program, and once they are approved, they paste the Google AdSense code into the pages on their websites.

Google then starts serving ads to those websites, based on the keywords that it finds in the text of the page. When a visitor clicks on one of those ads, the webmaster earns money – usually a few cents for each click. However, when a site has a great deal of traffic, and when the webmaster knows which keywords are the most profitable to target, there is a lot of money to be made.

It sounds simple enough, but it’s not really that easy. First, you have to be approved – and Google is picky. The good news is that once one site is approved, you have a Google AdSense account, and you do not have to seek Google’s approval to use AdSense on any other site that you own, as long as that site is within the Google’s terms of service guidelines.

Once you are approved, you have to know which keywords to target – the ones that will make you the most amount of money per click, and how to write (or have written for you) content that draws those high paying ads. Often, this is the hardest part for what are known as ‘AdSense publishers.’ When we get into this, the secrets will start unfolding.

21 Productivity Ideas To Get More Done MRR Ebook With Audio

Introduction

If you’re working from home, then your ability to get lots done and stay on task is going to have a huge, direct impact on your lifestyle and happiness. Finish early and you have the option to simply head downstairs, make a cup of coffee and start relaxing! There’s no commute, no boss looking over your shoulder, and no requirement to work set hours (so long as the work gets done). Heck, you could even put that extra time to good use by starting a side project, further developing your skills, etc.

Then there’s the fact that working from home can mean working in your perfect work environment, near to the people you love, and with the freedom to come and go as you please – or even to completely change your work hours!

But if you don’t have the discipline and motivation to actually get work done, then it can be a completely different story. Now you’re more likely to find the experience highly stressful and overwhelming: you might well find yourself with a huge list of tasks that you have no idea how to tackle. The line between downtime and work might have become blurred, and you might be constantly working late, forgetting to shave, and generally failing to maintain a work-life balance.

Read on and you’ll discover 21 productivity tips, hacks, and ideas that can make a huge difference. They have been organized into categories for your convenience!

1. Eat the Frog

Eating the frog is an expression that comes from a Mark Twain quote: “If it is your job to eat a frog, then you should do that first thing in the morning. If it is your job to eat two frogs, then you should eat the biggest, ugliest one first.” What this tells us, is that it is sensible to tackle the biggest and most difficult project first. By doing that, you make sure that you have provided the maximum value each day, and you do the hardest work while you have the most energy and resolve.

2. Kaizen

Kaizen is a Japanese term that comes from the country’s manufacturing industry. This term refers to the process of making lots of tiny changes to a process, in order to see a large cumulative benefit over time.

For example, if your computer currently take 5 minutes to boot up, and you start it up twice a day, that means you’re losing 10 minutes of productive time daily. Either you could use that time to do something else (make a call for instance), or you could upgrade your computer. Either way, you might now only spend 2 minutes booting up.

That’s now reduced your wasted time from 50 minutes a week (200 minutes per month) to 14 minutes per week (56 minutes per month). That’s a gigantic difference. Changing the order you complete tasks can have a similar impact.

3. The One Minute Rule

This rule states that we should always complete tasks immediately if they will take less than one minute. This removes them from our mind, meaning that they aren’t hanging over us and causing stress.

4. The 80/20 Law

The 80/20 law tells us that 80% of your yield will come from 20% of your work. The key to being as effective as possible then, is to identify that crucial 20% that is going to result in the most profit.

5. Pomodoro

The Pomodoro technique is a technique that involves setting timers for when to work and when to take a break. This structured approach ensures you get a break (removing the urge to procrastinate) but allows you to carefully define when and for how long.

6. RescueTime

RescueTime is an app that you can use in order to monitor just how much time you spend on each task during the day. They say that “that which is monitored, improves.” In other words, when you see where your time is actually going, you will be given greater control over how to spend said time.

7. Todoist

Todoist is a to do app. This app makes it very easy to create new tasks thanks to a powerful natural language engine: you can make the tasks by speaking just as your normally would! It also offers a lot of integration with other powerful apps and tools.

8. Apple Watch

An Apple Watch is a surprisingly powerful tool for productivity. Not only does it allow you to get notifications on your wrist (meaning your phone can stay firmly in your pocket), but it can even let you add todo items and more to your wrist, making sure that they are always easily accessible.

9. Notion

Described by some as a “second brain,” Notion is an extremely powerful note-taking app that lets you create web pages, tables, lists, embedded images and videos, and MUCH more. It’s extremely flexible and easy to use, and essentially it can adapt to however you wish to use it.

10. Freedom

Freedom is an app that will allow you to block specific apps and websites on your computer. This is powerful stuff for those who find themselves distracted by Facebook or other websites when they’re meant to be working!

Get More Done by Typing Faster

In the digital age, a lot of what we consider 'productivity' happens on the computer. Being productive tends to mean writing e-mails, filling in data entry and writing copy. In all these cases, typing is our main form of 'output' and that means we will always be limited by the speed at which we can type when it comes to productivity.

Learn to type at the speed of thought then and in theory you could drastically upgrade your productivity and complete a lot more work in a day. Read on and we will look at how you can learn to type faster.

Passive Income Strategies PLR Ebook

Sample Content Preview

Introduction

If you’ve been looking for ways of generating passive income, this special report will provide you with many different options. Some of the opportunities will require start-up capital while other options will only require your time and effort.

Whether you want to be able to free yourself from the daily grind and still generate a full-time income, or you just want more time to spend with friends and family or perhaps traveling the world, passive income is the key!

Passive Income is any income that requires little or no ongoing work to maintain. Ideally, your passive income businesses will require absolutely no work to maintain, but occasionally you can increase your income by expanding on your passive income channels, or by combining more than one.

You can always outsource these tasks and eliminate them from your own schedule as well.

In this special report, we’ll discuss the top tips and strategies for creating streams of passive income so you can enjoy true financial freedom.

Let’s begin!

Sell Your Knowledge

One popular passive income stream that doesn’t require a lot of start-up capital is selling your knowledge in the form of a book (digital or physical), or through an online course or training program.

Some of the best types of digital content are “how-to” books that teach people specific skills that improve their lives somehow.

In addition, it’s very easy to self-publish a book with the Amazon KDP platform. No longer do you have to try to land a publishing contract! You can simply create a free Amazon Publishers account and upload your manuscript.

Visit https://kdp.amazon.com to get started.

Tips: Be sure you price your book at $3.99 or higher so Amazon will give you a 70% return. You’ll need a professionally designed cover, as well.

Check out https://www.Upwork.com for affordable cover designers. You can also outsource editing, proofreading or outsource the entire book!

Creating a course will take a bit more time. You’ll want to invest in a professional microphone and you’ll need a room where you won’t be interrupted by outside noise while you’re recording your lessons.

There are many different microphones on Amazon that will help you create clear, pitch-perfect audio files, but our favorite is the Blue Yeti. It runs for around $100 and is one of the best microphones you’ll find at this price point.

Tip: You should also consider grabbing a pop filter that will help block out background noise when you’re recording.

Screen Recording Software:

When it comes to screen recorders, I highly recommend ScreenFlow if you’re a Mac user. You’ll be able to create high-quality videos in a matter of minutes using this one tool.

Link: https://www.telestream.net/screenflow/

If you’re on a PC, check out Camtasia available here: https://camtasia-studio.en.softonic.com/

In addition, you can either create a “talking head” video course or use a slideshow with a voiceover. We’ve seen both types of courses work well.

You’ll need a good platform to host your course and process payments. There are many to choose from, but the most popular ones are:

https://www.Teachable.com
https://www.Udemy.com
https://www.thinkific.com
https://kajabi.com/pricing
https://www.podia.com/pricing

When choosing the topic for your online course, consider:

What are you most passionate about?
What do you enjoy doing when you have free time?
What skills have you learned over the past year?

Remember, everyone is an expert at something!

There’s no risk with this stream of passive income. It will take time, but once your content is created you’ll be able to generate passive income from new customers’ day after day without having to update the course material very often.
Property Rentals

Rental properties are a proven method for generating passive income, but it comes with some definite risks. John H. Graves, a Los Angeles Fiduciary, recommends that you determine three things before getting started:

How much return do you want from your investment?

What total costs and expenses will you incur from this investment?

What financial risks are you running with this investment?

In addition, this is one of the passive income streams that does require periodic injections of cash for upkeep of the property. You need to be realistic with your expected returns, as well.

Backyard Chickens PLR Ebook

Sample Content Preview

Introduction

When it comes to birds domesticated and kept for their eggs, meat, or feathers, no poultry is more popular worldwide than the chicken.

In fact, there are about eight chickens for every human being on the planet, with more than 60 billion chickens raised annually.

Smaller than the vast majority of other commonplace livestock like cattle, pigs, or sheep, chickens are generally considered to be both the easiest working animals to upkeep and the most efficient producers per square foot.

As communities become increasingly reliant on local restaurants and grocery stores for their food security, more and more families are choosing to turn unused backyard space into their very own chicken farm.

Even outside of food production, chickens continue to grow in popularity both as pets and, thanks to their colorful plumage, as competitive show animals.

Combined with organic raised beds or larger scale foodscaping, choosing to invest in poultry farming remains one of the most productive uses for almost any backyard, big or small.

As egg producers, chickens have no equal in the modern world. Worldwide, hens laid more than 62 million metric tons of eggs in 2009. By 2017, that figure increased to more than 80 million.

Every aspect of the chicken egg is edible, including the shell, which can be finely ground into a natural calcium supplement.

When cooked, a single 100-gram egg serving contains more than 12 grams of protein, 46% Daily Value of Vitamin B12, 42% DV of B2, and only one carb.

In terms of meat production, chickens can be prepared to fit almost any cultural cuisine. With the simple addition of spices, sauces, or side dishes, chicken meat can be baked, grilled, fried, barbecued, or even cooked rotisserie style.

Containing less saturated fat and cholesterol than beef, veal, venison, and other red meats, chicken meat represents one of the healthiest sources of protein available.

With only 4 grams of fat and 31 grams of protein, a 100 gram baked chicken breast presents a much healthier alternative compared to the 10 grams of fat and only 27 grams of protein for the same portion of lean skirt steak.

Without a doubt, the choice to raise chickens is a powerful force in the growing urban agriculture movement.

In the following report, we will discuss the top tips and strategies you can follow to help make your own backyard chicken farm the best it can be.

Let’s begin!

Set Realistic Expectations

The first step is to determine your own expectations. What do you hope to gain by adding chicks, roosters, or hens into your life?

Broilers

Urban chicken owners looking for a source of meat closer to home should turn to Broilers - chicken breeds ideal for quick maturation.

Amid the growing awareness of how severely factory farms produce just as much cruelty and disease as food goods, Broiler owners can rest easy knowing exactly where their meat is coming from and how it was raised.

Layers

Any homeowners looking for a steady supply of fresh, healthy eggs just out their back door won’t be surprised why chickens are the perfect companion.

Certain hen breeds can provide over 300 eggs in a year! But, be warned, just like their human counterparts, female chickens only produce eggs for a limited time. So, before adding egg layers to the family, consider what you’ll do when those feathered females reach henopause:

Option 1

The commercial farming approach to the issue is the most cost-efficient.

From a business mindset, there is no motive for continuing to invest the cost of feed once a hen ceases to produce. If a homeowner shares this view and isn’t opposed to the act, then all “spent hens” can be equitably killed for their meat.

Option 2

For many homeowners, an attachment forms with the creatures that they care for and interact with daily.

If killing isn’t an option, then only those willing to care for a hen until its comfortable, natural demise should consider pursuing the responsibility of owning Layers.

For reference, most hens significantly slow in their productivity after twelve months.

Depending on the breed, many chickens live for five to ten years, while the Guinness World Record is held by a hen who died of heart failure at the age of sixteen.

Pets

As with the later option associated with obtaining Layers, many urban agriculturalists are comfortable with committing to backyard chickens, even without any mind for their meat or eggs.

Just like any other pet, chickens have individual personalities, provide companionship, and, as such, are often bestowed with names.

They show affection, respond to their caregivers, and, although many breeds aren’t as prone to cuddling, almost all, given comfort and time, will feed from a familiar hand.

Poultry Fancy

Some chicken owners operate with a mindset altogether different than those focused on food production or having a pet.

Just like canines and horses, some chickens are simply more attractive than others, to the extent that some hobbyists - and even careerists - selectively breed chicken heritages for the purpose of competitive exhibition shows.

Quick Tips

Looking for a pet? The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not recommend bringing chickens indoors or letting small children handle them due to the birds’ propensity to carry and transmit Salmonella in their dander and feces.

How To Advertise On Smart Phones Resale Rights Ebook

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the wireless revolution! If you’re new to the 4G wireless age, don’t worry. This is a great opportunity to learn about this technology and how it applies to business today. But, we understand that you do know business – and advertising. And, you certainly know how important advertising is to your business.

Like any business owner, advertising is an expense to your bottom line. So, it’s important to spend your advertising dollars to your greatest advantage. And as technology changes, advertising strategies and tools must change, too.

This book is designed to help you begin advertising to mobile phone users that are taking advantage of 4G technology. This technology gives them access to the internet, fast downloads, and streaming audio and video in addition to their voice and text messaging capabilities.

Even if you have a website and advertise via the internet, you may not be convinced that mobile advertising is right for your business. Following are some statistics that might change your mind.

• Nielsen Mobile, which reports on trends in the wireless industry said that, back in May 2008, 15.6 percent of mobile subscribers in the US made regular use of the mobile Internet on their devices. As of January 2012 that number has increased to 69% of mobile phone users accessing the Internet daily on their mobile phones!

• 95 million mobile users in the US are paying for internet access on their mobile phones, but they do not use it regularly, according to this same report.

• Nielsen also reports that these mobile customers most often use their mobile internet connection to visit websites – even more frequently than they use it to access email.

• Yahoo reports that it expects that by 2017 more users will access the internet via their mobile phones than via their home or business PC’s.

• eMarketer reports that even older baby boomers (those aged 54-62) access the internet at least once per month, meaning that internet marketing truly appeals to all ages.

• eMarketer also reports that in the UK, restaurant advertising on mobile phones grew 67% in the year up to July 2012, and clothing ads on mobile phones grew by 57.2%.

• This same report in eMarketer reports that the restaurant ads sent to mobile phones reported a 15.5% response rate. These ads utilized SMS messaging technology, rather than web browsing.

Hopefully, the statistics above have convinced you that advertising via cell phones is the wave of the future. It’s doubtful that you can boast a 15% response rate to any ad you’ve placed in the yellow pages, on a billboard or via direct mail. But, you may not yet understand how to take on this advertising venue, or what methods and resources are actually out there.

It is the goal of this e-book to provide basic information about marketing to the cell phone user, taking advantage of the new features and functions of 4G technology. Hopefully, we’re going to help you get creative about marketing your business to technologically savvy users.

In the pages ahead, we’ll take a look at 4G itself, including what features 4G offers wireless users. We’ll also look at how business users today are taking advantage of these features that 4G offers to make them more productive at work and at home.

This book will offer ideas and suggestions, as well as give you case studies about how these advertising methods have already been proven in the marketplace. There’s a lot of food for thought in the coming pages. It’s all designed to make you think about advertising your business in a very different way. It is our hope that these ideas and suggestions make your business successful and prepare it for the future of advertising in wireless technology.

HOW NEXT GENERATION PHONES ARE GREAT ADVERTISING VEHICLES

Many of today’s business people may remember early cell phones. They were heavy, bulky devices that worked only in your car – and then only sporadically, since there were more holes in coverage than there was coverage itself. Boy, have we come a long way. Today’s phones are lightweight, pocket sized, and calling them mere phones seems like an understatement of great proportions.

Today’s cell phones provide us regular wireless phone service, allow us quick text messaging, display our emails, provide gaming and surf the internet. Many also offer push to talk capability to reduce our costs in talking to those whom we chat with frequently. All in all, our cell phones have become a business necessity – serving our needs far beyond verbal communication. Most of us take our wireless devices with us everywhere.

And, what’s even more exciting about how the extent to which wireless phone capabilities have increased is the fact that the cost of purchasing a cell phone and of paying for service has not risen dramatically enough over the years to deter business people or consumers. Today, nearly everyone has a cell phone – even children. Industry experts estimate that cell phone penetration has reached nearly 100% in the United States.

Wireless companies have created packages aimed at businesses to ensure that a company is willing to pay for phones for nearly every employee. And, family plans have made equipping every member of the family, right down to the elementary age child, affordable. In fact, today many families have foregone the landline home phone entirely in favor of a cell phone for every family member with a rate plan that allows them unlimited calling to every member of the family. In addition, wireless carriers have made “unlimited texting” plans so affordable that these are purchased by most business and consumer users.

Finally, the newest generation of phones, “smart phones” are a revolution in themselves. These phones have richer displays and are designed with more of a browser in mind. They also can support many different applications. There are applications available today, and you can bet that many more are in development. So, if you haven’t considered advertising your business via wireless devices, now’s the time. In short, cell phones are the perfect new advertising vehicle because:

• Nearly everyone carries a cell phone
• Many users subscribe to text messaging and internet
• There are a wide variety of additional applications that can be used for advertisers

If you haven’t yet thought about advertising your business via your customers’ wireless devices, this book can help you get started. In the next chapters, we’ll explore the possibilities of advertising on mobile phones more in depth. We’ll examine the new face of the technologically savvy business user as well as look at companies that have already begun to use wireless advertising strategies to their advantage. SET UP A WORDPRESS BLOG

Here’s how you set up your WordPress Blog on your URL (domain).

The first thing you need to do is to make sure you have a hosting account created. Your hosting account must include:

PHP 4.3 (or higher)
MySQL 4.0 (or higher)
Mod_rewrite Apache module

You do not need to worry about what these features are, it is just important that you make sure you have them. Try to get hosting at the same place you set up your domain.

In your hosting account you will find a control panel. In your control panel find the Databases option and create a new database. You will be asked to give the database a name and create a username and password. Keep this information in a safe place. This is your MySQL database that will store all of your blog postings.

INSTALLING WORDPRESS

Once you have the hosting set up and the database created it is time to install WordPress. Some hosting companies have a quick install option. If they do not all you have to do is download the latest software at: http://wordpress.org/latest.zip (for Windows or Mac).

Unzip the files on your computer. They will be unzipped in a folder called “Wordpress”.

Within the unzipped files you will find a file called wp-config-sample.php open it the file (it will open in any document editor). You will find instructions in this document. Change the text as needed in your editor (you will be adding the name of your database, username and password. Save the file and rename it “wp-config.php”.

Move each folder and file within the “wordpress” unzipped folder you created (do not copy the folder itself) onto your website host company’s server (your hosting company will give you directions, it is very easy).

If your blog is the entire site put it in the root directory.

Otherwise you will want to create a subdirectory for the blog.

You may want to create one like:

http://www.mydomain.com/blog or blog.mydo-main.com.

After the WordPress files are on the server go into your web browser and type www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/install.php (or if you did it on a subdirectory you type www.yourdomain.com/blog/ wp-admin/install.php.

The software will then guide you through the last few steps to installing your blog on your server. WordPress makes it quick and easy to install a blog. Take your time and go step-by-step and you should have no problem installing and starting your blog.

SET UP A BLOGGER BLOG

Setting up a blog on Blogger is quite easy. The first thing you want to do is to set up a Google account for the blog. You can do this by going to Blogger.com and then following the link in the resources section.

It takes about 2 or 3 minutes to set up a Google account. If you already have a Google account you can use it if you wish.

After you have set up your Google account you should go back to Blogger.com and sign-in using your Google account username and password. Your username is typically the e-mail address you used when creating the account.

You can set up your account so it remembers your username and password. Only do this if you are on a non-shared computer.

Look for the “Create a blog” option on the dashboard of Blogger. The dashboard is the page you go to every time you log onto your Blogger account. You can manage several blogs from the same dash-board if they were all created with the same Google account.

You will be asked to name your blog. You want to create an easy to remember, easy to find name that makes it clear what your blog is about. Try not to have a blog name that is too long. It will be the first part of the web address of your blog. For example if you name your

blog
“Teds Tidbits”
your
URL
will
be: http://
[email protected].

The next thing you need to do is to choose your template. Blogger has a number of templates to choose from. You do not have to agonize over which template to use because you can change the template at any time.

Write your first official blog post using the template Blogger provided. Feel free to add a picture, etc. Once you submit that first blog posting you will be able to view your new blog, edit the posting, etc.

At this point you can personalize your blog so it stands out. Many different aspects of the blog can be changed, moved around, etc. Click on the “Layout” option and start to make your blog stand out from the other blogs out there. You can undo virtually anything that you do so do not be shy to experiment with different layouts for your blog.
