My rule of thumb is every time I Opt-In to a list I can expect 10 emails from them a month, so right now I am receiving 100 emails I do not really want, but it stinks because I need to be apart of that list to get the products I want.
Another effective way to list building is offering a newsletter or ezine to the customer. The retailer of the newsletter is offering the customer a weekly subscription usually for free, and if they sign up they will receive valuable information regarding the topic of the newsletter. I have joined various newsletters and really only 1 out of 10 send me good information. The others usually send me a newsletter that has 30 ads surrounding a 350 word article. Those I will opt-out immediately.
Let us look at the tangible world for a moment. Let us say you walk into a store, the first thing someone will say to you is, “Can I help you with anything sir/mam?”, and you say, “No, I’m just browsing”. Well, was there ever a time you said, “Why yes, I’m actually looking for…” From my past experience, as soon as I say this I give the salesman the opportunity to help me; he/she immediately changes their pitch to talk about the product I want.
When you focus on Internet Marketing you must focus on it like it is a real business. Even it you have simply joined Internet Marketing to create a little extra cash.
