The beauty of these codes is they hold the information you want them to and allow anyone with a QR scanner on their phone (many are inbuilt into the devices or can be downloaded free as apps) to quickly scan the code and get information.
One of the other reasons these are so very good to use is because they add an element of suspense.
People are intrigued about what they’ll find behind the code.
The other day I was sitting in a restaurant and browsing through the restaurant’s own in-house magazine. They had a competition to win year’s supply of wine.
The write up underneath the competition picture was all about the wine itself and included factual information about its production.
The QR code, when scanned, led to a mobile friendly competition entry page. Of course all the answers to the few questions they asked were on the write up in the magazine. They didn’t make it difficult to enter.
The hook here is that this company has the ability to get a lot of information from people by way of asking them to a) enter the competition and b) having them opt-in for more information and future competitions.
I bet that company now has thousands of people’s information sitting on their data base so they are able to cross promote other offers and products. The QR code worked for me as an interested prospect because it was quick and simple to get my entry in. No need to send off an entry in the post, or wait until I got home to search again on the computer.
