Wikipedia Definition - A cliche or catchphrase used to refer to looking at a problem from a new perspective without preconceptions, sometimes called a process of lateral thought. Do some research at YouTube or Google Video and see which videos are watched the most. You will soon see that only the most creative and original videos have some common elements. They are entertaining through the use of humor or shock factor or a combination of both!
Comical Videos
Comical videos are great because they appeal to a very wide audience. Young, old, rich, poor-everybody likes to have a good laugh. That’s why the funny videos are so popular. So if you can make your video a very funny one, you’re going to draw a large crowd.
Even your video is just a series of funny pictures with silly music in the background; you can draw a lot of traffic with them. Have a funny script if you want to talk about your video content and certainly make sure you have your humor tested if you would like to appear onscreen. See the video resources below.
Shocking Videos
The term shocking can be more difficult to achieve. Many young people have achieved this by doing dangerous stunts. An internet phenomena was started with a young man running into fence posts. I would never recommend this but it is a good example of how powerful (and sometimes dangerous) video can be.
If you want to explore the shock factor I would recommend something verbal. MADD made great headway with their commercials about drunk driving and the shock factor they instilled with cold hard facts. Shock tactics are more difficult to use and must be done with care but if used correctly can be extremely effective.
