A great way to get immediate traffic to your website is through social bookmarking. The way social bookmarking works is pretty simple. You simply sign up for a free account and submit sites that you would like to add to your account as a bookmark. Most social bookmarking websites allow you to make your stored bookmarks “public” and by doing so it enables others to see your bookmarks and visit your websites.
It’s a good way to build backlinks and also get free traffic. One of the most popular social bookmarking websites is Digg. Having a bookmark from Digg can give your site a tremendous “boost” in initial traffic. The problem is, it’s easy to submit to Digg, but it is not easy to get your post “digged”. When you post a site on Digg, other Digg users get the opportunity to decide if they “Digg” your site or if they want your site “buried”.
If they like it, they click the “Digg” button and you score a “digg” or I like to call it a “point”. The more “diggs’ you receive the more likely your site will appear near the top of it’s category or if you’re lucky it can even be featured on Digg’s home page.
The screenshot above gives you a good idea of how listings appear. The “digg it” link is where other Digg users can “dig” a submission. It’s your goal to make your post as interesting as possible. From experience “Digg” users are interested in fun & free stuff, technology based posts, and politics.
Review the type of posts that are being “Digged” and see if you can come up with something similar. By similar I mean original but based on the same reasoning for why that post got “Digged” so often.
